This dataset was the model output used for creating figures in the paper submitted to the ACP "Different responses of cold-air outbreak clouds to aerosol and ice production depending on cloud temperature". The two case studies were two cold-air outbreak events over the Labrador Sea on 15 March 2022 (150322) and 24 October 2022 (241022). The first six digits of the .nc files indicate the date. The time for model output is 16:45 UTC for the 15 March 2022 case, and 17:00 UTC for the 24 October 2022 case. Please refer to the preprint paper for more information about the model setup and model configurations for the sensitivity test simulations.
xxxxxx_2d.nc files contain the columnar/surface model output, including cloud cover, all-sky liquid water path, all-sky ice water path, surface snow precipitation rate, surface rain precipitation rate, incoming solar radiation flux at the top of the atmosphere, outgoing shortwave radiation flux at the top of the atmosphere, and outgoing shortwave radiation flux at the top of the atmosphere. Each xxxxxx_2d.nc file contains 7 groups from the sensitivity test simulations, including control, nd10, nd150, sinp0.0001, sinp100, ehm10, and ehm7000.
xxxxxx_3d_*.nc files contain the model output with vertical levels (80) for each model configuration, including temperature, pressure, grid-box mean liquid water content, grid-box mean ice water content, grid-box mean ice crystal number concentration, grid-box mean snow number concentration, liquid cloud volume fraction, ice cloud volume fraction and total cloud volume fraction.
Note that the data provided here are created on 2D coordinates (longitudes and latitudes are 2D arrays). This is because the nested UM model uses the rotated pole method and the model data here are the selected CAO domain subset. For 3D datasets, model height for a total of 80 levels is included.
