Atlas of Biodiversity in the Communes
The portrait of communal biodiversity proposes, for each municipality, a synthesis organised in a single document of public knowledge available and mobilised in the field of biodiversity: state, past developments, pressures. It was designed as part of the Atlas project of Biodiversity in the Communes. It is a central element of this project because it aims, on the one hand, to bring to the knowledge of all the municipalities the knowledge available at the national level (it is portrait V0) and on the other hand to be enriched as the process proceeds, when new data is collected and made accessible at the national level (it will be portrait V1, then V2). Actors can therefore communicate to the official bodies responsible for updating the data identified in the portrait any new element of which they are aware (e.g. new floristic inventory data can be transmitted to the National Botanical Conservatories, and eventually enter the portrait via the summaries of the National Inventory of Natural Heritage) and thus contribute to the improvement of the portrait of communal biodiversity. The portrait of communal biodiversity, the data from complementary inventories and the results of participatory science approaches will form the heart of the Atlas of Biodiversity of the Communes participating in the ABC project. The portrait includes only publicly available and published data. Updating procedures and periodicities are defined so that the information presented in the portrait is used wisely. The source of the data is systematically specified. The information in the portrait is royalty-free, but the source and date of the information, if reused, must be included. The portrait of communal biodiversity is organised in several parts: \- a summary in four pages; a more precise document concerning biodiversity and the various pressures placed on it, \- a free page for the municipality wishing to complete the information; \- annexes that aggregate information not directly related to biodiversity, but which it is interesting to know when analysing the results. Note: Maps and graphics require color printing. The order of appearance of the information in the document does not constitute a prioritisation of the importance given to that information.
