payment of child benefit; number of siblings; social origins; desire
for children; opinions and reasons not to have children (scale);
partner biography; information on first three marriages of respondent
regarding marriage, divorce or separation; living together with a
partner in a common residence; attitude to marriage (scale); reference
persons or conversation partners for personal things; meal partners;
person with whom one has a very close instinctive tie; leisure partner;
providing financial support to others or recept of such support;
co-residents at main place of residence as well as if appropriate at
secondary residence; persons helping with shopping, child care and
housework; age, sex, degree of relation, frequency of contact and
distance to most important persons; number of living grandparents and
grandchildren; year of birth; month of birth; occupational career;
education; time of taking up first employment; career course; time of
changes of time worked each week; start, end, length and reason for
interruptions of employment; current employment or reasons for
unemployment; expected difficulties in the search for a new job; most
important reasons for expected difficulties; search for work; desired
number of hours each week; arrangement of working hours on working days
and weekends; shift work; flextime; commuting time to work; employment
in the civil service; area of business; company size; working according
to instructions or independently; limited employment; most important
reason for current employment; desire for change of working hours and
desired number of hours each week; most important criteria in choice of
occupation (scale); division of child care and housework between the
two partners (scale); cleaning help; decision-maker with selected
purchase decisions as well as with family matters; attitude to children
(scale); religiousness; frequency of selected leisure activities;
residential status; life in a group sharing a residence; total costs of
residence; number of rooms; number of children´s rooms; description of
infrastructure of residential area; official right of a child to
support payments; regularity of payments deposited; self-assessment of
one´s general state of health; information on frequency of health
complaints arising; weight problems; personal stress from particular
events in the last year, such as e.g. death, family problems, legal
disputes, problems with authorities, unemployment and partner problems;
general life feeling, contentment with life and pressure from stress
and concerns (scale). The following information on spouse/partner of
respondent: social origins; current employment status; search for work;
occupational position; time worked each week; arrangement of working
hours and shift work; flextime. With families with children the
following additional detailed information on all children was recorded:
date of birth; sex; legal status; living in one´s family since birth;
school attendance; education and institutions or persons looking after
the children; judgement on opening times of kindergartens and
day-nurseries; expected advantages from more flexible opening times of
day-nurseries and kindergartens. The following form was filled out by
the respondent in writing: characterization of partner relation
(scale). Also encoded was: sex of interviewer; number of target persons
in household.
