This is an Arizona Site Steward file for the Vineyard Fort site, located on Tonto National Forest land. The site is comprised of a room block, described in one document as a red granite fort and watchtower, with burials. The site is alternatively attributed to the Salado and Yavapai and to prehistory and the 14th century.
The file consists of a site data form, Central Arizona Water Control Study site description, site inspection/maintenance assessment form, a copy of the "Report of Fort on Vineyard's Peak Roosevelt Lake District" which includes extensive architectural and ceramic descriptions, two site maps, an archaeological site inventory form, an Arizona State Museum archaeological survey form, and a map of the site location. The earliest dated document is from 1968.
