Amaranthus cruentus and Amaranthus hypochondriacus MAGIC population parent line genome sequencing and assembly

We have generated a pangenome from eight amaranth species: four A. cruentus and four A. hypochondriacus. These accessions are the parents of a Multi-parent Advanced Generation Inter-Cross (MAGIC) population. We have generated high-quality genome assemblies, identified sequence and structural variants between the lines and assembled a graphical and gene-based pangenome, also including the reference A. cruentus genome (Ma et al., 2021). Creation of this intra-specific amaranth pangenome will subsequently underpin use of the MAGIC population.
