RNA-seq of total, subpolysomal, and polyribosomal poly (A+) RNA from bloodstream and procyclic form of T. brucei

Polysome profile analysis was used to monitor the distribution of polysomal transcript between bloodstream form and procyclic form T. brucei. Polysome profiling is based on the principle that the high protein content of polysomes allows them to be separated throughout a sucrose gradient according to the number of ribosomes attached to the mRNA. Further, a particular mRNAs higher or lower than average association with ribosomes indicates potential involvement of gene-specific regulatory mechanisms
