Multi-isolate study of Aspergillus fumigatus

Soruce of DNA: clinical and environmental samples Aspergillus fumigatus is the predominant cause of both allergic and invasive aspergillosis. The key drugs for treating aspergillosis are azoles, especially voriconazole, but resistance to these drugs is emerging. Drug resistance in A. fumigatus is a major challenge in obtaining good clinical outcomes. Numerous mutations resulting in resistance have been described, but its molecular and evolutionary mechanisms remain to be characterized. Sequencing of drug-resistant and susceptible clinical and environmental isolates of A. fumigatus (~50 isolates) will help in identifying additional mechanisms of resistance as this resistance evolves in patients.
