Electro-fermentation (EF) was a promising technology for chemicals production driven by renewable energy. However, how the medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) production in EF-CE system was affected by the method of chain elongation (CE) was not clear, and no direct evidence was provided yet for a simultaneous bio-utilization of syngas and ethanol.
