Map Before Machine™ is a deployable, analog-first pre-AI thinking protocol that structures human reasoning before any AI interaction begins. It functions as the human cognition layer in any AI-integrated learning or workflow environment, built for UX integration across EdTech platforms, LMS systems, and AI tools. No existing AI literacy framework in the United States, or globally, produces a timestamped, learner-generated cognitive artifact before AI interaction begins. Map Before Machine™ does. When a learner completes the Map stage, they walk away with a visible record of their own reasoning that existed before AI was ever engaged. That record is not reconstructed after the fact. It is not inferred by a detection tool. It is produced by the learner, in their own hand, before the machine enters the room. Educators receive verifiable proof of original human cognition. Learners receive something they can stand behind, submit, and own. No proctoring system, detection algorithm, or AI literacy curriculum currently on the market offers this. Evidence from prototype interviews shows STEM learners prompt AI more specifically after completing Map Before Machine™ compared to opening AI without any prior structure. The barrier to entry is ten minutes, a pen, and paper. It is printable in under a minute and LMS-ready on Canvas, Moodle, and any comparable platform. No special tools are required. No curriculum redesign is needed. That makes it immediately deployable across K-12 classrooms, higher education, corporate L&D teams, workforce training programs, and any AI-integrated environment where human reasoning needs to come first.
