资源简介:
Description: This dataset stems from a comprehensive investigation into the pathological and epidemiological characteristics of transmissible viral proventriculitis (TVP) in chickens across northern Algeria. Collected between 2020 and 2022, it includes data from 62 broiler farms, 4 laying hen flocks, and 3 broiler breeder flocks. The dataset comprises histopathological, macroscopic, and epidemiological observations, highlighting key diagnostic markers such as proventriculus wall thickening, lymphocytic infiltration, and necrosis. It classifies cases into three statuses: TVP (presence of lymphocytic infiltration and necrosis), lymphocytic proventriculitis (LP, only lymphocytic infiltration), and WP (absence of both features). The dataset further details the prevalence, clinical signs, gross lesions, and statistical analyses of TVP, LP, and WP, along with mortality rates (ranging from 0.1% to 0.5%) and average live weights. This dataset serves as a valuable resource for understanding potential infectious and non-infectious etiologies of proventriculitis and highlights the role of infectious agents in exacerbating the disease rather than directly causing it under the study conditions. Data Collection: Proventriculus samples were collected from birds exhibiting clinical signs of TVP and subjected to histological examination. Lesions were classified based on their macro- and micro-pathological features, and their severity was evaluated. The study recorded variables such as flock type, age, mortality, and live weight to explore potential correlations with proventricular lesions and disease progression. Objective: The primary objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of TVP and assess the correlation between lesion severity and variables like age, flock type, and proventricular wall thickening. The statistical analysis was designed to uncover these relationships using various methods. Statistical Analysis: Statistical analyses were conducted to evaluate relationships between proventricular lesion severity, lymphoid infiltration, necrosis, ductal hyperplasia, and mortality. ANOVA and post-hoc tests were employed to explore these correlations. All steps required to reproduce these analyses are detailed in the manuscript’s methods section.
