The base of the Paleocene can be mapped throughout the entire duck beak and reaches depths between 800-2 900 m. Along some salt structures no paleocene sediments can be detected. The area falls in the trend from SE to NW, with an NNW-SSE striking, presumably trouble-bound high position in the northwestern area of the duck beak. The largest depth is reached at about 2 900 m in the northwest of the duck beak, along the border with the Danish North Sea sector. The flattest spot is located directly on the edge of the salt structure Bruni.
