Two Pseudomonas strains, P. wayambapalatensis L7 and P. cyanflava sp. nov. SC11, were isolated from plant soil and exhibit strong antagonistic activity against R. solanacearum. An "antagonism-genome-transcriptome" strategy identified key biosynthesis gene clusters (BGCs) responsible for the production of WLIP and WLIPbeta. The antibacterial activity of SC11 depends on both the wlp and cya BGCs, while that of L7 relies solely on the wlp BGC. WLIPs demonstrate potent antibiotic activity against R. solanacearum, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1 ug/mL, thereby expanding their potential applications in plant protection.
