Monthly petrol consumption in Italy 2019-2023

The average monthly consumption of petrol fuel in Italy has been on the increase since the end of 2021 and amounted to 0.7 million metric tons in September 2023. At the beginning of March 2020, the Italian government imposed a national lockdown, limiting all non-essential movements, to slow down the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. Petrol and diesel consumption in Italy declined in the following month, reaching an all-time minimum.
