The Soil-Lake Inundation Moat Experiment (SLIME) investigates the ecological connections across aquatic-terrestrial interfaces (specifically soils to moats to lake water columns) in the McMurdo Dry Valley ecosystem of Antarctica. Community structure of the planktonic and littoral moat communities is measured across the soil to sediment transition as well as the extent this transition extends beyond the moats to the under-ice planktonic and benthic communities.
