Triticum aestivum cultivar:Sumai 3 Genome sequencing

The Sumai 3 wheat genome sequencing project aims to generate a high-quality reference assembly of this well-known Fusarium Head Blight (FHB)-resistant variety. Sumai 3 has been widely used in global wheat breeding programs due to its strong resistance to Fusarium graminearum, the causal agent of FHB, a devastating disease that reduces grain yield and quality. This genome assembly, generated using PacBio HiFi long-read sequencing and chromosomal conformation Hi-C data, will provide valuable insights into the genetic basis of FHB resistance, aiding marker-assisted breeding and comparative genomics studies. The availability of a high-resolution Sumai 3 genome will serve as a crucial resource for researchers and breeders working to develop improved wheat varieties with enhanced disease resistance and agronomic performance.
