The Kagera Region, Tanganyika/Tanzania. Nyakahanga (hospital, church etc.).The Hospital was founded in 1912 by German missionaries as a dispensary work, which gradually developed. In 1953 into a 60-bed hospital, again extended to 200 beds in 1965, partly with funding by Danida. The hospital is run by ELCT, and Swedish, German and Danish Lutheran Churches have assisted with personnel, equipment and other improvements over the years. Nyakahanga started to serve as a district hospital in 1972, which from 1992 was confirmed by an official agreement. (Used in: Dansk Missionsblad no. 15/1963).
