Location of historic village plots in the urban area of Pirkanmaa in 2014

The data includes a survey on the location of village plots in Pirkanmaa on the villages that occurred in the 16th century. The inventory was carried out by ProAgria Southern Finland on behalf of the Pirkanmaa Federation. The location of the village plots was examined for the planning of the 2040 urban areas of the Pirkanmaa regional plan and the impact assessment of the plan. The area under review is the current conurbation area of Pirkanmaa (2014), the expansion and conversion areas of the agglomeration indicated in the regional plans in force, and a buffer of 500 metres in width around the previous ones. The study was carried out as office work, based on historical map material and source literature. Village plots are point targets in the material. The real area of the village may be much wider. A village plot or a village plot refers to the area where the plots of the houses and their residential and economic buildings are located. According to the National Board of Antiquities (2012), only deserted and unbuilt plots, or parts thereof, of historical village plots are protected ancient sites. The village plots located on the basis of the maps but currently used are archaeological heritage sites.
