Comparative transcriptomics of the garden dormouse hypothalamus during early torpor, late torpor and interbout arousal of hibernation Overall design: Garden dormice (Eliomys quercinus, Gliridae) hibernated under constant darkness without food and water at 5 °C. Hypothalamic samples were dissected during early torpor (ET, one or two days torpid, n = 4, Tb = 5 °C), late torpor (LT, nine or ten days torpid, n = 3, Tb = 5 °C), or interbout arousal (IBA, normal metabolism for two of about four hours, n = 4, Tb = 37 °C).
