V4 hypervariable region of the 18S rRNA gene (PCR amplified). Samples derive from expedition to the Mid-Cayman Rise (2020) to sample deep-sea hydrothermal vents and conduct protistan grazing experiments. Additional samples originate from microcolonizer experiments, where various substrates were incubated at a deep-sea hydrothermal vent at the Gorda Ridge (2019).
