Market Assessment and Business Analysis of Carp Feed in Northwest Bangladesh

This study is undertaken for in depth assessment of the existing market system of fish feeds and ingredients with focus on recent advancement of intensification of carp aquaculture in the northwest Bangladesh and covered Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were applied to collect data. Data were collected from 128 fish farmers, 84 middlemen, and 5 fish feed companies through questionnaire survey. Simultaneously qualitative data were collected through 19 KIIs with the Department of Fisheries (DoF) officials, FIAB, feed companies, middlemen and ingredients traders. Four FGDs were conducted with fish farmers as well.

本研究旨在深入评估现有的鱼类饲料及原料市场体系，重点聚焦孟加拉国西北部鲤科鱼类集约化养殖的最新进展，研究覆盖拉杰沙希（Rajshahi）与朗布尔（Rangpur）两个行政区。本研究采用定量与定性相结合的方法开展数据采集：通过问卷调查，从128名养殖户、84名中间商及5家鱼类饲料企业处收集数据；同时通过19次关键人物访谈（Key Informant Interviews, KIIs），向渔业部（Department of Fisheries, DoF）官员、FIAB相关人员、饲料企业、中间商及原料贸易商采集定性数据。此外，还针对养殖户开展了4次焦点小组讨论（Focus Group Discussions, FGDs）。
