Breakdown of variable rate home loan borrowers in Japan 2023, by debt-to-income ratio

According to a survey conducted from April to May 2023, the largest share of variable rate home loan borrowers in Japan, around 25.3 percent, had a debt-to-income ratio of over 15 to 20 percent. According to the same survey, over 70 percent of home loan borrowers chose a variable rate housing loan.
