ISCO 08

ISCO (International Standard Classification of Occupations) Description: The International Standard Classification of Occupations was developed by the ILO (International Labour Organisation) and primarily serves to enable the international comparability of labour market statistics. It is also used in censuses, statistics on accidents at work and other statistics in which the profession of respondents is of central importance. The ISCO combines similar tasks and duties into professional activities (jobs) and thus into professions. ISCO distinguishes 4 levels of structure: Main occupational groups (major groups), occupational groups (sub-major groups), occupational subgroups (minor groups) and occupational groups (unit groups). ISCO 88 (after ISCO 58 and ISCO 68) was replaced by ISCO 08 in 2011.
