资源简介:
This data set contains concentrations of naturally-occurring
radionuclides in seawater (total - dissolved plus particulate -
concentrations of Th-230, Th-232, Pa-231, Be-10) and in particulate
matter collected by sediment traps (U-238, U-234, Th-230, Th-232,
Pa-231 and Be-10). Concentrations of U-series nuclides were measured
by isotope dilution inductively-coupled mass spectrometry.
Concentrations of Be-10 were measured by accelerator mass
spectrometry.
Samples were collected as part of the US Joint Global Ocean Flux Study
(JGOFS) Antarctic Environment and Southern Ocean Process Study
(AESOPS). Samples were collected along 170 degrees West, between
approximately 54 degrees S and 66 degrees S, as well as in the Ross
Sea. The study was designed to determine: (1) the intensity with
which these particle-reactive nuclides are scavenged from the water
column of the Southern Ocean; (2) the dependence on particle
composition for the scavenging intensity of each nuclide; and (3)
lateral transport of dissolved nuclides by advection and mixing.
