The complex relief parameter ‘intake area size’ describes the size of the catchment area of a grid cell in the depth line. The calculation was carried out using a ‘multiple flow-direction’ algorithm according to the Freeman (1991). The catchment area size of the depth lines was determined in order to obtain an indication for the separation of the valley forms with fluvial or colluvial (flood masses) filling.
