When an organism encounters an unoccupied habitat, it colonizes the habitat by the process of growth and expansion. Motile bacteria could expansion on the soft agar plate, and we performed a position dependent selection expansion evolution experiment with the motile bacteria, the mixed population were sampled at different cycle and the 50th cycle's samples were sequenced to study the genetic diversity.
