Data from Geophysical Survey Work at the River Avon Floodplain, Welford, October 2024

This collection comprises geophysics data from an archaeological geophysical survey alongside the River Avon, Welford, Northamptonshire which was undertaken by MOLA Northampton in October 2024. The work involved a magnetometer survey with a cart-mounted array of Bartington Grad601 fluxgate gradiometers. The survey detected a rectilinear anomaly in the eastern portion of the survey area which appears to represent a previous stream channel overlain by a sub-square earthwork, potentially representative of a medieval or post-medieval pond. A ditch of indeterminate date was also detected in the east, along with other, less certain ditches elsewhere. Geological responses were also identified across the survey area.
