Turnip (Brassica rapa ssp. rapa) is an economically and medicinally important root crop in east Asia, yet its genomic resources are limited compared to other Brassicaceae species, and the genetic mechanisms underlying hypocotyl morphogenesis-the core structure of its storage organ-remain largely unexplored. In this study, we assembled a high-quality, telomere-to-telomere (T2T), gap-free genome of the widely cultivated east Asia turnip variety Wenzhou Pan Cai (WZPC), comprising 10 centromeres and 19 telomeres.
