Earthquake simulator experiments of components submerged in a fluid-filled vessel

A set of earthquake simulator tests were conducted on submerged components in a fluid-filled base-supported vessel. The submerged components, which were simplified representations of internals in a reactor vessel, were suspended from the head of the fluid-filled vessel for earthquake-simulator tests. Multiple configurations were tested. Multi-component earthquake inputs, which spanned a wide range of amplitudes and frequencies, were used for testing. Data on responses of submerged component, including in-water frequencies and acceleration and strain histories, were generated. The data will help engineers performing numerical analyses of submerged components to validate their numerical tools for seismic fluid-structure interaction analysis.
