Reactions of Me2Zn with carbodiimides C(NR)2 in different molar ratios at elevated temperature were investigated, a possible reaction mechanism was identified, and the single-crystal X-ray structures of polynuclear amidinate zinc complexes {C[C(NCy)2ZnMe]4}, 1, {C[C(NCy)2ZnMe]3(ZnMe)}, 3, and {C[C(NCy)2ZnMe]3(ZnMe)(MeZnOMe)}, 5, are reported.
