Experimental Evolution of PAO1 in sinuses-like media and lung-like media representative of healthy and CF airways. Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1

We generated and characterised culture media reproducing key features of the upper airways (sinuses) and lower airways (lungs) for the study of bacterial evolution and virulence. Experimental evolution was performed with P. aeruginosa PAO1 strain passaged through sinus-like media and lung-like media under cystic fibrosis and non-cystic fibrosis conditions for 20 passages over 40 days. Sample labels denote media origin, passage number and population number (rep 1-5). Rep 1 populations are derived from Ancestor 1, rep 2 from Ancestor 2 etc.
