Counting the Purge: The Scale and Structure of Post-Transition Personnel Actions in Bangladesh's Civil Service, Police, and Trainee Cadres (2024–2026)

This dataset accompanies the research paper Counting the Purge: The Scale and Structure of Post-Transition Personnel Actions in Bangladesh's Civil Service, Police, and Trainee Cadres (2024–2026). It contains a structured compilation of publicly reported personnel actions affecting Bangladesh's administrative cadre, police service, and police trainee cadres following the change of government on 5 August 2024. The dataset records dated, batch-level actions including compulsory retirement, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) placement, dismissal, and discharge, together with unresolved trainee cases and cumulative figures that were excluded from the main totals because of potential overlap. Each record is linked to the corresponding source identified in the accompanying paper. The dataset supports the paper's calculation of 597 confirmed personnel actions with a final disposition and 56 additional unresolved trainee ASP cases, giving an extended total of 653 documented cases as of the 14 August 2026 data cutoff. The figures are conservative lower-bound estimates because the dataset is compiled from publicly available secondary reporting rather than a consolidated official government dataset. The dataset is provided to support transparency, traceability, and reproducibility of the analysis.
