Genome and transcriptome of Helotiales sp. F229, a newly identified root endophyte of Arabis alpina. Helotiales sp. F229

Helotiales sp. F229 was isolated from roots of wild Arabis alpina plants growing in a low phosphorus (P) soil at the Col du Galibier natural site (French Alps). The fungus exhibited biotrophic endophytic growth colonizing host roots inter‐ and intracellularly. The relative abundance of F229 in roots correlated with high P accumulation in the shoot, and it was shown to promote plant growth and shoot P levels via mycorrhiza‐like P transfer. The genome and transcriptome information can be used for phylogeny and comparative genomics analysis including e.g. effectors, nutrient transporters and CAZymes.
