Enterococcus faecalis transcriptome under shear stress

Enterococcus faecalis is a major causative agent of infective endocarditis. Bacteria infecting the heart valves will be exposed to shear stress generated by blood flow. Using a microfluidic device, we exposed surface attached E. faecalis to shear stress mimicking the microenvironment of the heart valves to investigate how shear stress impacts gene expression. Surface attached bacteria under static conditions and planktonic bacteria were included for comparison.
