A dataset of methane emissions from mine closure in China under different scenarios

The dataset quantifies methane emissions under different scenarios of mine closure, fully reflecting the potential for emission reductions and regional differences in the phasing out of existing producing mines. Based on a dataset of 2,816 producing mines in China as of 2020 provided by China's National Energy Administration (NEA), which contains information on production capacity, years of production, mine area, and geographic location, the dataset is first digitized and geographically coordinated via Baidu Maps, and then manually matches the mine information from different sources one by one using the geographic coordinates and the name of the mines as the key fields to consolidate the information and generate a dynamic time series for each coal mine to generate dynamic time series. The dataset is stored in bit-tif format with a temporal resolution of years and a spatial resolution of 0.008°.
