Our research investigates whether we can improve learning with an intelligent tutoring system, the Cognitive Tutor Algebra I, by adding collaborative learning elements to the software. Until now, the Cognitive Tutor Algebra (CTA) has been used strictly in one-on-one (machine-to-student) fashion.
