This study focuses on the molecular mechanisms of anthocyanin biosynthesis in passion fruit peel, which is often wasted despite its nutritional value. Using RNA-Seq technology, we analyzed the transcriptome of mature and immature peels from purple and yellow passion fruit. We identified thousands of differentially expressed genes across comparisons, clustered them into modules, and pinpointed the top hub genes related to anthocyanin synthesis through gene co-expression analysis. Real-time quantitative PCR confirmed our findings, enhancing our understanding of anthocyanin synthesis in passion fruit peel at the transcriptomic level.
