Bacterial isolates causing periprosthetic joint infections

Multiresistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus are the main cause of prevailing hospital-associated infections (HAI). NGS provides the opportunity to explore the bacterial genome including phylogeny, information about resistance and virulence. Here, we applied NGS to observe and characterize prosthetic joint HAIs in a one-center study. We collected 27 isolates from 18 patients with prosthetic joint infection from 2012 to 2019.
