Turbulence measurements collected during the Lagrangian Submesoscale Experiment (LASER) on board the R/V F.G. Walton Smith cruise WS16015 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2016-01-29 to 2016-01-31

This dataset reports turbulence measurements. Microstructure measurements were taken to quantify turbulence near the drifter deployments of the Lagrangian Submesoscale Experiment (LASER) on board the R/V F.G. Walton Smith cruise WS16015 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2016-01-29 to 2016-01-31. The data were collected using two Vertical Microstructure Profiler (VMP) instrument. The cruise WS16015 was led by chief scientist Dr. Eric D'Asaro and its objective was to study submesoscale dynamics, their interactions, and their impact on transport. The dataset contains the coordinates, date and time, and turbulence kinetic energy dissipation of two alongside VMP instruments.
