Bacterial community study in sea waters from water column in the Arctic Ocean

The expedition of the R/V ARAON proceeded in the Arctic Ocean during summer 2010. The aim of this study is to examine which extent biogeographic findings are specific for the water mass distribution along water columns in the Arctic Ocean. To monitor hydrographic characterizations and bacterial variations along water columns, total 16 water samples were collected from the Arctic Ocean in July 2010. The collected waters were categorized into distinctive water masses by a T-S diagram. Bacterial diversity and community structures were determined using a pyrosequencing approach.
