资源简介:
Basemaps for regional territorial divisions of Spanish America - "jurisdicciones". There is no single definition for what a jurisdiction was, particularly if/when "composite jurisdictions" of two districts were one or several independent entities. Also, both royal authorities and communal bodies (cabildos) formed jurisdictions, creating sometimes complicated regional constellations. For the purposes of this reconstruction, jurisdictions are the main regional territorial expressions, typically the "divisions" of "provinces" as defined here: Thus, jurisdictions are: -The alcaldías mayores and corregimientos of the New Spanish provinces, Guatemala, Tierra Firme, Quito, Peru and Chile. -The municipal jurisdictions of cities and towns in Cuba, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Nueva Granada, Cuyo and Río de la Plata (Tucumán, Paraguay, Buenos Aires) - sometimes combined when several jurisdictions were headed by one lieutenant-governor. Also, all territories in those regions with a chief administrators directly appointed in Spain. -The subdelegaciones in the late Bourbon intendencies. -All other autonomous territories, like the Utopian hospital-jurisdictions of Santa Fe, the autonomous communities of Tlaxcaltecs, officially recognized self-governed colonies (Belice), missionary territories or purely military jurisdictions in absence of civil authorities.
