This invention relates to a method for somatic embryo rescue of Pinus elliottii × Pinus caribaea. The method includes the following steps: (1) Collecting cones of Pinus elliottii × Pinus caribaea and acquiring explants; (2) Inducing embryogenic callus formation; (3) Proliferating embryogenic callus; (4) Carrying out maturation culture to obtain cotyledonary embryos with germination potential; (5) Performing germination culture to obtain germinated seedlings. The timing for collecting Pinus elliottii × Pinus caribaea cones is from June 20 to July 2. The hormone components in the induction medium are: 2–2.4 μM 6-benzylaminopurine, 0.008–0.012 μM brassinolide, and 7–7.4 μM 2,4-D butylate. This method exhibits relatively high induction rate of embryogenic callus, somatic embryo maturation rate and germination rate.
