European corn borers (Ostrinia nubilalis) were exposed to ambient (23 degree C) or elevated (28 degrees C) temperatures during pupal and adult reproductive life stages. Differences in the methylation of cytosine nucleotides in the DNA were compared among treatments using enzymatic treatment followed by Illumina sequencing. Epigenetic responses of methylation may play an important role in regulating response to temperature during reproduction.
