Quality-Controlled Underway Meteorological and Near-Surface Oceanographic Data from Cruise FKt231024 on RV Falkor

Meteorological and near-surface oceanographic (METOC) observations including wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, air temperature, relative humidity, sea temperature and salinity, time, position, course, and heading are recorded underway from scientific sensors onboard the oceanographic research vessel Falkor at one-minute intervals; transmitted from ship to shore over near-realtime satellite-based email via the Shipboard Automated Meteorological and Oceanographic System (SAMOS); undergo both automated quality evaluation and visual quality control by a data analyst at the Florida State University (FSU) Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Predictions Studies (COAPS); merged into daily files in a standard netCDF file format, linked to a cruise identifier via the Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) catalog, and made available for public download via the SAMOS web site; and submitted to the US National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) for long-term preservation and dissemination.
