Identification of the petite-positive mutation ptp1-1

The goal of this project is to identify the mutation ptp1-1 in fission yeast through genome resequencing of segregating tetrads phenotyped for petite-positivity. Petite-positivity is the ability to the survive loss of mitochondrial genome. The mechanisms of petite-positivity illuminate aspects of mitochondrial function with relevance in human health and disease.
