Corrugated gray, jar, Accession AZRU-00008 Catalog #2096. Morris FS 5068. CULTURALLY SENSITIVE: NAGPRA ARTIFACT; ACCESS RESTRICTED. Analyzed by Lori Reed 2011. Temper is unknown crushed rock; unknown provenance. Vessel is 60% complete, but rim and neck is missing. Measurements: 6.5 cm orifice diameter, unknown height. Recovered from Earl Morris excavation of southeast refuse mound, Burial 104, Aztec West Ruin. Earl Morris’ description of the southeast refuse mount at the time of excavation is as follows. “….[Having] a depth of about 7 feet and composed of sweepings, ashes, animal bones, and sherds.. but generally lacking in architectural debris. There were occasional rock-walled firepits. Sherds in the mound were all of the earlier Chaco complex …burials are extremely rare in all of the refuse heaps.” (Morris 1928:414).
