The sediments associated to different type of marine residues, specifically aluminium cans and PET plastic bottles, were studied in terms of microbial ecology. High-throughput 16S rRNA was performed to study the complete bacterial communities that thrive in this residues as well as a collection of culturable microorganisms was set to study their ability to degrade PET.
