PolyWaste-OD: An Industrial Post-Consumer Plastic Waste Object Detection Dataset.

PolyWaste-OD is an industrial object-detection dataset containing RGB images of authentic post-consumer plastic waste collected predominantly from one commercial plastic-recycling facility in Victoria, Australia. The dataset represents the material stream and operating conditions observed at the participating facility during the collection period and should not be interpreted as statistically representative of all Australian recycling facilities. The dataset was created to support research in object detection, waste characterization, robotic sorting, and industrial computer vision. The images show naturally occurring waste on a working conveyor, including flattened, contaminated, dirty, overlapping, and visually variable objects. The associated analytical dataset used in the paper comprised 20,100 annotated images. This public Zenodo release is a facility-approved curated derivative comprising 19,000 annotated images across the same eleven waste categories. Images containing visually identifiable restricted commercial-brand content and background-only laboratory conveyor frames without annotated waste objects were excluded from the public object-annotation release.
