Atmosphere model output for "Mesoscale structure and ocean impacts of a powerful May 2025 storm at the West Antarctic sea ice margin"
收藏资源简介:
Met Office Unified Model (MetUM) output used in the study "Mesoscale structure and ocean impacts of a powerful May 2025 storm at the West Antarctic sea ice margin" by Maclennan et al. These outputs are from version 13.0 the regional MetUM with 1.5km grid spacing and 400 x 400 grid points on a rotated domain, focusing on the Amundsen Sea. The simulation has 120 vertical levels, extending from the surface to a model top of 40km, with 29 levels within the lowest 1000m of the atmosphere, and uses Regional Atmosphere and Land Version 3 (RAL3). The model is forced using ERA5 reanalysis. The metum_ase_case_study_surface_fields.zip directory contains the full set of surface-level output from the MetUM simulation. Each of the other data files include the data on vertical levels used to generate the analyses of the event structure in the study. The analysis code at https://github.com/mlmaclennan/2025-may-june-west-antarctic-atmospheric-river-analyses contains details on reading and interpreting the output from each of the files. All files contain the standard STASH variable names from the UK Met Office (https://reference.metoffice.gov.uk/um/_stash). This work was funded by the NERC PICANTE project, NE/Y503290/1.
