3.31 Poverty Rate

Though income is the traditional measure, poverty is multidimensional (e.g. economic, social and cultural). Poverty undermines the right to work and have adequate income, access to health and education, freedom of expression, and the right to maintain cultural identity and be involved in a community’s cultural life. Poverty leads to inequality growth and is detrimental to economic growth, undermines social cohesion, and in some circumstances, drives instability and conflicts per the United Nations Sustainable Goal Development.
