资源简介:
"In order to comply with Federal regulations (33CRF325, Appendix C), land developers sponsored a reconnaissance-level cultural resources survey of a 225 acre tract located the floodplain of the Savannah River, for Carl E. Sanders, Jr. (Figure 1). ... Several phases of development are planned. Because wetlands are present within the tract a cultural resources survey was required. The reconnaissance survey was requested by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in consultation with the South Carolina State Historic Office (SHPO). Goals of the reconnaissance survey were to determine if archeological or cultural resources were present within the tract, and if any further cultural resources studies would be required. As a result of the survey, it is possible to stratify the property into high and low probability areas for containing archeological sites. Three sites were found in the high probability area, consisting of approximately 55 acres, and a fourth occurs in this zone outside the property boundaries. However, the bulk of the property, nearly 170 acres, consists of low probability areas consisting of wetlands and relatively modem floodplain deposits."
